Flight restrictions imposed again in Ireland

ALL flights in and out of Ireland's main Dublin airport were to be halted as of mid morning today due to a cloud of volcanic ash drifting south from Iceland, the Irish Aviation Authority said.

The IAA, which stopped flights in most of Ireland for several hours yesterday, said it would halt all Dublin flights from 1000 GMT due to risk of ash ingestion in aircraft engines.

The authority said there were no restrictions on Shannon airport in the west of the country and added that it would issue a further statement at 1000 GMT.
