Flights from Sharm el-Sheikh arrive in Britain amid bomb fears

TWO flights carrying British holidaymakers stranded inEgypt's resort of Sharm el-Sheikh after a Russian plane crash arrived here on Friday.

An EasyJet flight landed at Gatwick Airport here while another touched down at Luton Airport on Friday afternoon, local media reported, adding that just eight of 29 flights would depart from Sharm el-Sheikh on Friday.

Media reports said that British passengers are not allowed to take any hold luggage with them on any of the flights, which will be brought back separately for security purposes, and that only hand baggage is permitted.

Egypt's civil aviation minister said the volume of luggage being left behind has disrupted operations at the airport.

British Prime Minister's Office announced Wednesday that flights from Sharm el-Sheikh in southern Sinai Peninsula to Britain would be delayed as precautionary measures, after latest investigation showed that the Russian plane which took off from Sharm el-Sheikh and crashed in Sinai on Oct. 31 may have been brought down by an explosive device.

Reports said around 4,000 British holidaymakers were expected to return on Friday.
