Gaddafi's son denies airstrike against protesters

LIBYAN leader Muammar Gaddafi's son Seif al-Islam denied that warplanes had bombarded protesters in the capital of Tripoli and Benghazi, saying targets were ammunition depots in remote areas, the country's state TV has reported.

"The armed forces have bombarded arms depots far from populated areas," Seif al-Islam was quoted by the state TV as saying yesterday.

The pan-Arab Al-Jazeera TV reported earlier that the Libyan air force had bombed protesters in Tripoli and the second largest city of Benghazi.

Al-Jazeera, citing eyewitnesses, said protesters were bombed by the air force while they were on their way to a base that belongs to the army.

Seif al-Islam has warned that his father, in power for 42 years, will fight to the end and he would never give up. "We will fight to the last bullet to the last soldier."
