General election to go ahead on Thursday: British PM

THE Britain prime minister said on Sunday Britain cannot continue as before and "it is time to say enough is enough", after seven people were killed and 48 others injured in an attack in London, BBC reported.

May said there is too much tolerance of extremism in Britain and the country is facing a "new trend" of terrorism. She said Britain's counter-terrorism strategy would be reviewed.

May said full campaign would resume on Monday and the general election would go ahead as planned on Thursday.

The prime minister has chaired a meeting of the government's Cobra emergency committee.

It is the third attack in Britain in three months following the car and knife attack in Westminster in March, which left five people dead, and the Manchester bombing less than two weeks ago, in which 22 people were killed.
