Germany condemns militant attacks in Indian-controlled Kashmir
GERMANY on Saturday strongly condemned the militant attacks in Indian-controlled Kashmir, saying it was an attempt to "counter" the democratic process there, local media reported.
The Press Trust of India quoted German Ambassador to India Michael Steiner as saying that people in Kashmir have shunned terror by coming out in large numbers to vote which was a very " good sign".
"I think it was a heinous act. I condemn that in the strongest terms," he said.
At least 21 people, including eight Indian troopers, three policemen and eight militants, were killed Friday in a series of deadly attacks that rocked Indian-controlled Kashmir as local elections were underway.
