Germany to cut power use 10% by 2020
GERMANY plans to cut electricity usage by 10 percent by 2020, according to a government paper today, setting out the strategy for securing energy supplies as it exits nuclear power by 2022.
"We will lower electricity consumption by 10 percent by 2020 through further measures for higher energy efficiency, such as ambitious European standards for energy-using appliances," said the paper.
It also detailed relief for energy-intensive industries and modernizing buildings to make them energy-efficient.
