Girl, 6, sexually assaulted at Indian school

A six-year-old girl has been sexually assaulted allegedly by two gym instructors of her school in the southern Indian city of Bengaluru, triggering massive protests by parents outside the educational institution Thursday.
"The incident happened during school hours on July 2. We have arrested two gym instructors of the school for committing the heinous crime," a senior police official said.
The incident came to light this morning after school authorities sent out forms to parents, asking them to sign them which will absolve the school of any responsibility for their children's safety.
Local TV channels showed footage of angry parents breaking through the gates and storming the school as a heavy contingent of police tried to restrain them.
The school's chairman, Rustam Kerawala, has promised more security for children. "We will install CCTVs and ensure background checks of staff," he told agitated parents.
This is the second such incident this month. Last week, another six-year-old at another school was picked up by her aunt and murdered over a family dispute.
