Heathrow halts 38 flights day after computer crash
HEATHROW Airport yesterday canceled 38 flights as it recovered from a computer glitch that wreaked havoc with the London airport system, the world’s busiest hub. “There are 38 flights canceled today as a result of yesterday,” said a spokesman, adding that 1,300 flights were scheduled to arrive at and depart from the airport yesterday.
“But we started up very well this morning, so I’m hoping after that we’ll get back to normal,” he said. Computer failure at the state-of-the-art Swanwick control center briefly shut down Britain’s skies on Friday, with departures blocked for more than an hour.
