Helicopter crash kills 6 firemen in Spain

SIX firemen were killed yesterday when a helicopter crashed in the northeastern Spanish province of Aragon.

The chopper crashed at around 1:30pm local time (1230 GMT) as it flew to join efforts to fight a wildfire about 30km from the city of Teruel.

A survivor was hospitalized with fractures.

The cause of the accident is unknown although bad weather conditions have been ruled out.

Spanish King Juan Carlos and Prime Minister Jose Luis Zapatero have offered their condolences.
