Hollande heads security meeting after Brussels explosions

FRENCH President Francois Hollande on Tuesday presided a security meeting after a series of explosions hit Brussels airport and a metro station in the Belgian capital, local media reported Tuesday.
Hollande was meeting Prime Minister Manuel valls and ministers in charge of defense and interior affairs at the Elysee Palace, the news channel BFMTV reported.
Not scheduled on the president's agenda, the meeting came after two explosions rocked Brussels airport and a blast was reported at a metro station near the EU institutions.
The Belgian federal police has confirmed one dead and several injuries. According to Belgian media, at least 28 people have been killed and 35 were severely wounded.
In Paris, security patrols were reinforced in the French capital's two main airports Charles de Gaulle and Orly. Additional police forces have been deployed to control trains coming from Belgium, according to local reports.
In a statement, Foreign Ministry called on French expatriates in Brussels to limit their moving in Brussels after the fatal explosions, adding that a crisis center was set up to help French nationals in the neighboring country.
On Monday, Belgium's Interior Minister, Jan Jambon, warned the country was on high alert for a possible terrorist attack to revenge the arrest of Salah Abdeslam, the only surviving suspect of the deadly Paris attacks.
On the run for four months, the 26-year-old French citizen was arrested during a counter-terrorism raid in Molenbeek, Brussels.
