India PM seeks peace with all neighbors in South Asia
INDIAN Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said today India seeks peace with all its neighbors in South Asia and wants to create an environment which would "benefit the entire South Asia".
Speaking on the 62nd anniversary of India's Independence at the historic Red Fort palace, Singh said that India has good relations with the United States, Japan, Russia and China, and it also wants better relations with countries of Southeast Asia, Central Asia and the Middle East.
Singh also said terrorism has become a global menace and India will crush terrorism with the support from other countries.
"Nothing can be achieved through violence. There is no place in our democratic system for those who resort to violence," he said.
He said his government had taken several steps to improve the internal security since the Mumbai attacks last November.
