India reports first case of human-to-human transmission of A/H1N1 flu virus

THE first case of human-to-human transmission of the deadly virus of A/H1N1 flu in India was reported today in Hyderabad, central India, taking the number of persons afflicted by the disease to seven in the country, reported the semi-official Press Trust of India.

The human-to-human transmission took place when a man, who came back from the United States on May 31, infected his younger brother living in Hyderabad, said the report.

Two other new suspected A/H1N1 patients were admitted to the Chest Hospital in Hyderabad. The two new suspected cases included a 27-year lady who arrived from St. Louis, United States, on June 3, said the report.
