Journalist Freed For Money

A Japanese journalist kidnapped in Afghanistan in April has been freed, according to an Afghan provincial official who said yesterday the journalist had been abducted by the Taliban.

Kosuke Tsuneoka was at Japan's embassy in Kabul, Kyodo news agency said earlier yesterday, quoting Japanese government sources.

He was released in return for money, Mohammad Omar, the governor of Kunduz province, said.
