Kitten survives unhurt after being fed through shredder on industrial recycling machine
An abandoned kitten in UK had a lucky escape when the box it had been dumped in was fed into industrial machinery at a recycling plant, The Mirror reported on Sunday.
The kitten, nicknamed Stig by workers at the site in Rainham, Essex, escaped unscathed after it was spotted on a conveyor belt leading to a shredder, the report said.
Site supervisor Daniel Coker, 34, heard Stig's desperate miaows from inside the heavy machine which separates different types of rubbish, and was astonished when the young cat popped out the other side, the report said.
He said: "I can't quite believe he survived - what a lucky escape.
"The machinery was pretty heavy duty so it was quite some miracle.
"There was nothing I could do when I heard the cat’s cries from inside, but then he popped out the other end on the conveyor belt in between blocks of metal - stressed but unhurt."
Mr Coker rescued the black kitten and called the RSPCA which was today looking after Stig - and trying to find him a new home.
