A large explosion was heard in the diplomatic enclave in the centre of the Afghan capital, Kabul, today, Reuters witnesses said.
Sirens could be heard after the blast in the district that houses the US and British embassies and other missions. President Hamid Karzai held a news conference at the nearby presidential palace shortly before the blast.
