A summit of Asian leaders scheduled for April 10 to 12 will be held in the Thai coastal town of Pattaya instead of Phuket because of a lack of available hotel rooms on the popular resort island of Phuket.
Foreign Minister Kasit Piromya said the annual East Asian Summit in Phuket posed too many "logistics difficulties" because it coincides with Thailand's busy New Year holiday.
