Locomotive Derails
A train derailed on the Norway-Sweden border on Friday, injuring 40 people, police said.
Norwegian police spokesman Trond Sulen said yesterday that the first two carriages behind the locomotive derailed and flipped over. The train from Oslo, Norway, to Stockholm, Sweden, was carrying about 300 passengers when the accident happened near the Norwegian village of Skotterud on Friday, Sulen said.
Sulen said two passengers are seriously injured but their injuries are not considered life threatening.
Police have yet to establish why the train derailed, but Sulen said Norwegian police suspect the cause to be a wheel crack.
