MH17 flight numberto be withdrawn
MALAYSIA Airlines said yesterday it is retiring the flight number of the plane that was shot down over Ukraine.
From Friday, the carrier will no longer use MH17 to identify any of its Amsterdam-Kuala Lumpur flights, the company said in a statement.
The decision was taken “out of respect for our crew and passengers” who were aboard the plane, it said.
The new flights will have the number MH19, it said, adding that there will be no changes to the frequency of its Amsterdam-Kuala Lumpur service, which operates daily.
Flight MH17 was shot down last Thursday with 298 people on board.
