Magnitude 7.3 quake hits near Papua New Guinea

AN earthquake with a magnitude of 7.3 hit south southwest of Lae in Papua New Guinea, the US Geological Survey said. It was 71.5 miles (114 km) deep.

There were no immediate reports of damage.

Lae is the country's second-largest city.
