Man charged with UK subway attack
A MAN appeared in court in London yesterday after being charged by counter-terrorism officers with attempted murder in what British Prime Minister David Cameron said was a “hideous attack” at an underground station in the British capital at the weekend.
Muhaydin Mire, 29, of east London spoke only to confirm his name, age and address at Westminster Magistrates’ Court.
A 56-year-old man suffered serious but not life-threatening injuries in the alleged knife attack at Leytonstone underground station, about 10 kilometers east of central London, while a second person suffered minor injuries.
Mire was remanded in custody to appear at London’s central criminal court, the Old Bailey, on Friday.
