Man charged with planning terrorist act in Australia

A 25-year-old man has been charged with conspiring to plan or prepare a terrorist act in Australia and is due to appear in court in Melbourne shortly, police said today.

He was one of four people arrested by the Australian police today for allegedly planning to carry out a suicide attack on a military base.

Police said they were also interviewing a fifth man who is already in custody tied to other matters.
