Maurice Jarre, composer of 'Dr Zhivago' score, dies

OSCAR-WINNING French composer Maurice Jarre, who wrote the music for films including "Doctor Zhivago" and "Lawrence of Arabia", has died in Los Angeles at the age of 84, media in France reported today.

Jarre, whose lush orchestral scores gained him Academy Awards for "Lawrence of Arabia", "Doctor Zhivago" and "A Passage to India", had more than 150 credits to his name.

He was the father of electronic music composer and producer Jean-Michel Jarre and had lived in Los Angelese for many years.
