NEW Zealand Prime Minister John Key declared a national state of emergency today in the wake of a magnitude-6.3 earthquake that jolted the South Island city of Christchurch yesterday.
The prime minister said at a press conference that 75 people were confirmed dead in the disaster, and some 300 others were reported missing.
