'No dead bodies' - a sign of the times
A VILLAGE chief in southern Thailand was so upset by the corpses of slain women being left in an isolated part of his village and the predictions of a shaman that more were to come that he erected a sign reading "No Dumping Dead Bodies Here."
Krajang Noondum, the chief of Khuan Kong village, said yesterday that over the past six months the bodies of two women have been dumped on a rubber plantation near the village.
"When villagers go to tap rubber at dawn, they are afraid that they may find a body," Krajang said.
"In our village, we have an old shaman who communicated with the spirit world. The old man warned us that a man's body would be dumped here so we want to take some preemptive measures."
Krajang said the two women - the first found last October - appeared to have been murdered, judging by their wounds. No one has been arrested.
