No new proposal from P5+1 on Iran's nuclear issue: spokesperson
THE world powers engaged in the talks pertaining to Iran's nuclear issue have not made any new proposals to break the current stand-off, Iran's Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Marzieh Afkham was quoted as saying by official IRNA news agency on Saturday.
"Numerous intensive talks, both at the bilateral and multilateral levels, were underway in the past three days based on plans and initiatives put forward by the Iranian nuclear negotiating team, the latest of which was introduced in Muscat of Oman recently," she said on Friday.
The reports which said that the so called P5+1 group (Permanent members of the UN Security Council plus Germany) have put forward new ideas in ongoing nuclear talks in Vienna of Austria are " baseless," the Iranian official said.
On Friday, some western media release said that Iran's Foreign Minister Mohammad-Javad Zarif would return to Tehran for further consultations with the country's high-ranking officials over the new proposals made by U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry. The news was later denied by Iran. "The ideas presented in the ongoing nuclear talks (in Vienna) have not been reached to the point that Zarif could take them to Tehran" for consultations, an unnamed official in Iran's nuclear negotiating team was quoted as saying by IRNA. As for the Nov. 24 deadline, there are only two days left in the talks between Iran and the P5+1 group, while some gaps are still not bridged, especially the issues over Iran's nuclear enrichment scale and the sanction relief.
