Obama discusses Pyongyang with Park
US President Barack Obama has consulted by phone with South Korean President Park Geun-Hye following North Korea's proposal for direct talks with Washington.
During the 20-minute call on Sunday night, Obama briefed Park on his recent summit with Chinese President Xi Jinping in California, when both leaders agreed to work together on the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula, the White House said yesterday.
"The two presidents discussed recent developments with respect to the Korean Peninsula, and agreed to continue close communication and coordination on actions to pursue the denuclearization of North Korea," it said.
Park and Xi will hold their summit in Beijing on June 27.
