Occupy Wall Street arrests in NY, three months on
POLICE made several arrests yesterday at a protest in New York marking three months of demonstrations by the Occupy Wall Street movement.
The demonstrators were arrested when they tried to enter private grounds belonging to a church near Zuccotti Park, which the movement was occupying until police evicted them in November.
Local media said between 35 and 50 people were arrested. But police declined to provide their own estimates.
Occupy activists oppose what they say is corporate influence over politicians and an economy geared to favor only the richest elite.
