Official denies bribery
A South African football official yesterday admitted the country paid out US$10 million in 2008 but denied it was a bribe to FIFA to host the 2010 World Cup.
“How could we have paid a bribe for votes four years after we had won the bid?” president of the South African Football Association Danny Jordaan told South Africa’s Sunday Independent newspaper.
“I haven’t paid a bribe or taken a bribe from anybody in my life.”
