Opposition leader told he’s not up to the task

ANGELA Eagle, the former shadow business secretary, launched a bid to take over leadership of Britain’s opposition Labour party yesterday, saying current leader Jeremy Corbyn was not up to the task of defeating the ruling Conservatives.

The challenge marks the latest in a struggle for control of Britain’s second-largest political party triggered by the June 23 vote to leave the European Union.

The outcome of the leadership contest, seen as a battle between the party’s hard left and more moderate factions, will define Labour’s voice in Britain’s EU exit negotiations.
