Oprah Winfrey lends voice to 'Sesame Street'
TALK show queen Oprah Winfrey has lent her voice to "Sesame Street" for the first time, as an animated "O" chatting with guests "Otto the Orangutan" and "Ophelia the Octopus."
Producers of the award-winning TV show for pre-schoolers said on Monday that Winfrey's voice would be featured in the chat parody "The O Show" on the 41st season premiere of "Sesame Street" on Sep 27.
Producers said it was the first time that Winfrey, one of the most influential women on US television, had lent her voice to "Sesame Street".
Pop singers Katy Perry, Usher and Will.i.am, actors Jude Law and Colin Farrell, and NFL star player Reggie Bush are among other celebrities who will be featured in the new season of "Sesame Street," which will emphasize science.
Furry blue superhero Grover is getting his own new segment in a "Super Grover 2.0" format in which he stumbles across solutions to problems around planet Earth.
The new season of "Sesame Street" also will feature a number of parodies of TV shows and movies. "True Mud" is a play on the popular HBO vampire series for adults "True Blood", while "Ironing Monster" takes a new look at comic book superhero Iron Man.
"Sesame Street" has won eight Emmy awards and the TV show is shown in its original and local TV versions in more than 140 nations.
