Panda Lin Hui in Thailand suffers miscarriage
Panda Lin Hui has suffered a miscarriage from a zoo in Thailand's northern province of Chiang Mai after more than 100 days of pregnancy.
Baripat Siriarunrat, chief researcher of the panda project at Chiang Mai zoo, said Tuesday that the research team had found signs of a miscarriage in discharges from her genital area.
He said part of the embryo had been ejected and some of it had been re-absorbed into her body, reported Bangkok Post on Tuesday.
Thai panda research team artificially inseminated the female panda twice in September 2013 with sperm from her mate Chuang Chuang. Lin Hui gave birth to her first baby Lin Ping in 2009.
China's pandas Lin Hui and Chuang Chuang have lived in Chiang Mai zoo since 2003 as part of a panda research program.
