US drugmaker Eli Lilly reportedly spent millions of dollars on kickbacks to doctors in China for patients who started using Lilly’s insulin products.
The company spent at least 30 million yuan (US$4.9 million) in direct kickbacks to doctors, the 21st Century Business Herald newspaper reported, citing a former Lilly executive. The newspaper said doctors received payments as high as US$130 for each patient.
