Pheu Thai leads Democrat in Thailand general election says exit poll
EXIT poll, released on MCOT channel today, speculated that Pheu Thai Party will get more seats than Democrat Party in Thailand's general election.
The Abac Research Center, who conducted the exit poll, speculated that Pheu Thai Party will get 299 seats, while Democrat Party will get 132 seats.
When breaks down into the electoral systems, Pheu Thai is expected to secure 65 seats, while the Democrat is expected to get 40 seats from the party-list system.
Regarding the constituency system, Pheu Thai is expected to be able to secure 234 seats, while the Democrats is expected to get 92 seats from the constituency system.
Some 47.3 million eligible voters across the country will pick up 500 members of the House of Representatives, or the lower house -- 375 members from single-seat constituencies and another 125 from party-list category.
For the constituency ballot, the candidate who gets the largest number of votes in the constituency will win the seat in that constituency.
For the party-list ballot, each party will get the 125 seats in proportion to the number of popular votes they win.
The Election Commission of Thailand expected unofficial results at between about 5 p.m. local time. However, the official outcome could be made public the next day.
