Philippines Dispute
THE Philippines plans to take its dispute with China over the South China Sea to the United Nations, its foreign secretary said yesterday.
Albert del Rosario did not elaborate on what the Philippines intends to raise before the International Tribunal on the Law of the Sea, which decides cases stemming from a 1982 UN convention ratified by both countries.
However, two Filipino diplomats said the Philippines intends to ask the tribunal if China's claim to the South China Sea conforms to the UN convention.
