Plane with 68 onboard crashes in Cuba

A plane carrying 68 people crashed in central Cuba yesterday, the Cuban national television reported.

The ATR turboprop plane of the Aero Caribbean airline crashed near the city of Guasimal in the central Sancti Spiritus province, the Cuban civil aviation authorities said in a statement.

There were no reports on the casualties so far.

The plane, with 61 passengers and 7 crew members including 40 Cubans onboard, was flying from the eastern city of Santiago to Havana.

An investigation committee has been formed.
