Pokemon Go launched in Malaysia
POKEMON Go was launched in Malaysia on Saturday, more than a month after its launch in Australia and the United States.
Many Malaysian gamers spread the news on social media and quickly began to catch rare monsters.
However, Zulkifli Mohamad al-Bakri, a religious official with the Islamic Legal Consultative Committee, said, "Pokemon Go, as well as Pokemon, should be avoided if they are detrimental."
"It is hoped that the Muslim community, especially those in the Federal Territories, will not get involved with the gaming application," he said, quoted by the New Straits Times.
An official with the Communications and Multimedia Ministry said the federal government has no objection and will not restrict the game's release in the country, according to the state news agency Bernama.
