Putin to assess poll development

RUSSIAN President Vladimir Putin will need time to assess the decision by Ukrainian rebels to proceed with a secessionist vote, ignoring his call for a delay, his spokesman said yesterday.
“We need additional information — this is a new development,” Russian news agencies quoted Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov as saying.
“It needs to be analyzed,” Peskov said, declining to comment on news that the referendums in east Ukraine regions will go ahead as planned on Sunday.
