Russia is to seek closer ties with the US but will not tolerate interference in its affairs and wants "firm guarantees" a US missile shield is not aimed against Russia, President Vladimir Putin said yesterday.
Putin set out foreign policy priorities in a wide-ranging decree signed after his inauguration. Russia wants to bring cooperation with the US "to a truly strategic level," it said.
