S Korea reports 3rd confirmed case of swine flu

SOUTH Korea has confirmed a third case of swine flu in a 62-year-old woman who traveled on the same flight as an infected Catholic nun returning from a trip to Mexico, an official said today.

Health Ministry spokesman Oh Sung-il said that final tests showed the woman had swine flu, but that the woman already has recovered from the disease and will be released from a military-run hospital later today.

The woman had been staying in the US state of Arizona for months and was on the same flight back to South Korea as the country's first confirmed patient, a Catholic nun who returned home from a trip to Mexico on April 26.

The Catholic nun had been quarantined in the hospital south of Seoul, but was released earlier this week after recovering.

A fellow Catholic nun who drove her home from the airport on April 26 also fell ill and became the country's second confirmed swine flu patient. But she was also released from the hospital this week after recovering.
