Saudi Diplomat Gunned Down
GUNMEN on a motorbike shot and killed a Saudi diplomat in Karachi, Pakistan, yesterday, just days after hand grenades were tossed at the Arab state's consulate building, police said.
Tariq Dharejo, a police investigator, said they believed the shooting was motivated by anger over Saudi Arabia's decision to send troops to Bahrain to quell protests by Shiites Muslims. Saudi Arabia is almost entirely Sunni Muslim.
A spokesman for the Pakistani Taliban said it did not kill the diplomat. No one immediately claimed responsibility for the diplomat's slaying.
