'Serious Concern' Over Nuclear Conflict
RUSSIA and China expressed worry yesterday about the tension on the Korean Peninsula and urged North Korea to return to talks on its nuclear program.
A joint statement issued after meetings between Chinese President Hu Jintao and Russian President Dmitry Medvedev at the Kremlin said the leaders "expressed serious concern in connection with the situation on the Korean Peninsula," and underscored the need for a peaceful resolution of the conflict.
Hu and Medvedev called for the "swiftest renewal" of the talks involving their countries as well as North Korea, South Korea, Japan and the US.
