Service to mark deaths of UK WWI veterans
A SOLEMN Armistice Day service is to be held to commemorate the deaths of Britain's last World War I veterans.
Wednesday's service at Westminster Abbey will coincide with the ritual two-minute silence that marks the end of the Great War and pays respect to all war dead.
It is the first Armistice Day service since the deaths of Britain's last World War I veterans - Henry Allingham, Harry Patch and William Stone. The service is to be attended by the queen and senior political and military figures, and is to recognize the contributions of both the armed forces and civilians.
Readings are to be done by relatives of World War I veterans, and a Royal Marines bugler is to sound the Last Post. The queen is to lay a wreath on the Grave of the Unknown Warrior.
