Small earthquake felt in greater Los Angeles
A small earthquake rattled a wide swath of greater Los Angeles yesterday, shaking buildings downtown.
The US Geological Survey says the 3.7-magnitude quake hit at 7:01am near Carson. Its depth of 11 kilometers meant fewer people were likely to feel it.
Agency seismologists say the quake was near the Newport-Inglewood fault, but it was too small to determine exactly which fault caused it.
Los Angeles police said there had been no immediate reports of damage or injuries, and seismologists say none should be expected for a quake of this size.
There were hundreds of reports on the Geological Survey’s website of people feeling the quake.
