South Korean fishing boat sinks; 2 dead, 7 missing
A South Korean fishing boat sank in high waves today, leaving two crew members dead and seven others missing, the coast guard said.
Seven South Koreans and two Indonesians were aboard the trawler when it sank off South Korea's west coast, local coast guard officer Hong Seok-ju said.
Rescuers recovered the bodies of two South Koreans, but the others were still missing, he said.
Six rescue boats and a helicopter were searching for the missing crew but bad weather was hampering the search, Hong said.
He said the ship was sailing to a nearby island after a weather warning for strong winds and high waves was issued.
