Strong tremors were felt across the eastern coast of India after a massive quake hit off the west coast of Indonesia's northern Sumatra today, said local TV reports.
The tremors were felt in Kolkata, Chennai, Guwahati and Bangalore in India, while the Indian Ocean islands of Andaman and Nicobar have issued a tsunami warning.
The tremor forced people to run out of buildings in Kolkata and Chennai while the metro railway in Kolkata was forced to stop running.
