`Survivor' producer Beresford-Redman arrested in wife's murder
FORMER television reality show "Survivor" producer Bruce Beresford-Redman was taken into custody today. He is wanted by Mexican authorities in connection with the murder of his wife on their trip to Cancun more than seven months ago.
The award-winning producer was arrested without incident by US marshals and the FBI at his Rancho Palos Verdes home, the US Attorney's Office said. He was expected to make the first appearance in federal court today.
A magistrate judge signed an arrest warrant for Beresford-Redman on Friday, in conjunction with an extradition request from Mexico authorities, the US Attorney's Office said.
A Mexican state attorney general has filed murder charges against the producer for allegedly killing his wife Monica Beresford-Redman when the couple, whose marriage had been struggling, were vacationing with their two children at a posh hotel in Cancun.
Beresford-Redman was detained as a suspect in Monica's death and was later released. But he was called by local authorities as a man of interest and ordered to stay in the country waiting for the end of the investigation into his wife's death.
Beresford-Redman, however, returned to Los Angeles in late May and has been spending time with his two young children at their home in Rancho Palos Verdes.
