Sweden's Princess Madeleine to marry

PRINCESS Madeleine of Sweden is to marry her longtime boyfriend Jonas Bergstrom, the Royal Court announced today.

The court said King Carl XVI Gustaf has approved the engagement and received the necessary authorization from the Swedish government.

Madeleine, 27, is third in line to the Swedish throne, after her sister Crown Princess Victoria and brother Prince Carl Philip. After completing an undergraduate degree in art, history and ethnology in 2006, she has combined studies in social affairs with work for the World Childhood Foundation in Stockholm.

Bergstrom, 30, has a master's degree in law and has worked as an associate lawyer at a firm in Stockholm since 2006.

A date for the wedding has not been set, but Royal Court spokeswoman Annika Sonnerberg said it will be after Crown Princess Victoria's wedding in June 2010.

Victoria announced her engagement to her former personal trainer Daniel Westling earlier this year.
