Syrian rebels hold 4 UN peacekeepers
SYRIAN rebels said yesterday they were holding a group of Filipino UN peacekeepers on the ceasefire line between Syria and the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights after clashes in the area had put them in danger.
It was the second time in two months that unarmed UN military observers have been taken captive by Syria rebels.
A spokesman for the UN peacekeeping department, said the four peacekeepers are all from the Philippines. "Efforts are underway to secure their release now," he said.
