Taliban call for Afghans to boycott runoff
TALIBAN insurgents are warning Afghans not to vote in next month's presidential runoff election, threatening violence on polling day to stop them.
The group denounced the Nov. 7 vote between President Hamid Karzai and challenger Abdullah Abdullah as "a failed, American process."
The group said in a statement Saturday they will "launch operations against the enemy and stop people from taking part."
The group warned that anyone who casts a ballot "will bear responsibility for their actions."
The run-off has been called because of widespread fraud in the first round of voting in August.
