Taliban vows revenge
AFGHANISTAN'S Taliban has vowed revenge on NATO forces for the killing of the 17 civilians, saying that they had no faith in any court proceedings.
The massacre in Kandahar and the burning of Qurans at a NATO base outraged many Afghans.
"This was a planned activity and we will certainly take revenge on all American forces in Afghanistan and don't trust such trials," Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said. He reiterated many Afghans' belief that there was more than one soldier involved.
"Now America tries to deceive the people and tries to blame the act on one soldier. This is a crime by the American government. Using such cleverness and deception is a huge crime," he said.
